Hot Around Me is a new way to find out about news and people using just your latest FourSquare check-in.
To be a little more specific, Hot Around Me uses a combination of Outside.in, Twitter, and Foursquare to find stories recently reported near your last check-in, people who are tweeting near your last check-in, and other potentially interesting places near your last check-in.
1. Click here to let Hot Around Me access your Foursquare account. Once you click "approve" on the Foursquare.com page that you see next, you'll be brought back here and presented with stories recently reported near your last check-in, people who are tweeting near your last check-in, and even other places to check out near your last check-in.
Outside.in is a great service for getting hyper-local news, but I'm not always in my own neighboorhood and it's a pain to always have to manually define my location just to find out what's hot in the neighboorhood I'm currently in.
Since FourSquare already knows what neighborhood I'm in, combining the two services finally gives me a really quick and easy way to find about things (and people) that are happing wherever I am. And sprinkling in bits and peices of data from other services like Twitter just adds to the flavor!
